She has seen the world. She has hosted shows across the globe. She has walked on red carpets all over the world while interviewing and interacting with some of the globally recognized and loved celebrities. Simply put it this way; she lives her dream.

Her name is Vanessa Mdee, a 24 year old who is also known as Vee among her friends and fans. In 2007, when she was just 19 years old, Vee made history by becoming the first ever MTV VJ from Tanzania. Today, she is one of the most recognized VJs in Africa and even beyond the African borders.

As if being a VJ is not enough, Vee is also a DJ/ Host of “The Hit List” show at Choice FM broadcasting from Mikocheni in Dar-es-salaam. That’s not all; Vee is a HIV/AIDS Activist, Model, Motivational Speaker and MC. Recently, she added the title Singer/ Musician to her long and ever growing resume.

Vanessa, a graduate of The Catholic University Of Eastern Africa where she studied Law, is passionate about everything she does. You can feel the energy in her veins through the discipline and ethics she places into all that she does. She is a humanitarian who deeply believes in Africa as the future.

I recently had a chance to interview her. Here are the excerpts;

BC: Hi Vanessa, I can’t even put it well how happy I am to have this opportunity to interview you. Welcome to BC. How are you doing?

VEE: I'm sound so well Thank YOU - how you feeling? Thanks so much for taking the time.

BC: When I was researching for this interview, at certain point I think I got shocked. At this young age, it seems like you have achieved and have been involved in a lot. I, therefore, guess my first question should be how do you manage to do that you are doing and involved with? You must have excellent time and organizational management skills! Tell me about it…

VEE: Thanks, it’s funny when it's all put down on paper it feels like a whole lot but I’m just getting started. I really do have my parents to thank for the discipline. Our household was one of rules and curfews, pleases and thank You’s. Until the age of 18 it was mandatory for my siblings and I to be in bed by 11pm - not one minute later. I hated it then but I get it now. Structure is vital.

BC: You were (and I suppose still is) Tanzania’s first ever MTV VJ. I believe that was a dream that came true since you always wanted to be on TV…can you remind our readers how did that come about? How was the process?
