According to a statement released by the Presidency, former president Nelson Mandela is in "serious but stable" condition after being admitted to hospital in Pretoria this morning.
The 94-year-old former statesman has been suffering with a recurring lung infection since April, and was admitted to hospital around 1:30 Saturday morning.
According to Presidential spokesman Mac Maharaj, "doctors are doing everything possible to make him better and comfortable." The Presidency, meanwhile, wished Mandela a speedy recovery.
